Vietnam is a leading agricultural exporter (rubber, rice, coffee, soy, peanuts) whilst petroleum and coal are the main mineral exports.

In addition, Vietnam is a key player in textile, clothing and footwear manufacturing, agro processing, electronics, automobile and motorcycle assembly.  Multinational companies such as Ford, Mercedes Benz and Toyota have constructed assembly plants in the country and in the Electronics manufacturing and assembly sector, investment has been made by Daewoo, Hitachi and Phillips.  The economic climate is stable and unemployment is low at around 2%.
